Math 3 Updates
This week learners explore polygons and their attributes. They will learn and review polygon names based on the number of sides and vertices. Learners will come to understand parallel lines and square angles created by perpendicular lines.
Learners will also create a timeline to accompany the autobiography being written in Humanities. This is a part of their interdisciplinary project for Trimester 2. Essential vocabulary for Unit 5: polygon, attribute, parallel, congruent

This week will be the final week of Unit 5-Fractions. Learners continue to find equivalent fractions by using a number line or finding a pattern. Learners will be assessed on showing a fraction in different ways: as a part of a whole, as a part of a set, and on a number line. We will begin the math portion of their interdisciplinary project by creating a timeline of their lives.
Learners continue to work with fractions on a numberline and through picture models. They will understand fractions are parts of a whole (1/6 of a whole pizza) or parts of set (1 blue marble out of 6 marbles). They will practice creating and labeling number lines, using fractions equal to 1/2 and 1 whole as guidelines. Learners will find equivalent fractions using number lines and picture models and compare fractions with the same numerators or the same denominators.
