Fourth graders are focusing on division with remainders. They have learned the long division algorithm and are really beginning to understand dividing in real-world situations. They will move into their Pattern and Functions Unit by the end of this week after assessments.

Fourth graders have been reviewing multi-digit multiplication. We are also exploring division and recognizing patterns in math. It is important for fourth graders to be able to relate what they learn to real world situations. We are also revisiting the long division algorithm. Please continue practicing multiplication facts up to 12 at home to assist your learner.
The focus this week is on division and patterns. We will continue working on multi-digit multiplication. We want to internalize the steps for division, understand remainders (What do they mean?) and know how to apply division to every day life. For example, One serving of fries contains 40 fries. How many children (servings) will 1,000 fries serve?
Fourth graders are calculating their carbon footprint in order to complete their interdisciplinary project. We have also been working hard towards mastery of multi-digit multiplication and working toward basic math fact fluency in addition facts of 10 and multiplication facts up to 12.
