Learners are continuing exploration of division. We are focusing on our partial quotient strategy which is a common core strategy that is much easier than how we learned as children. Please encourage your learner to practice, check work and ask themselves the question: Does my answer make sense? These are all strategies of strong learners.

Learners are practicing the standard algorithm for division along with the partial quotients method. Many adults learned division this way. Steps: divide, multiply, subtract, check, bring down. Common core methods tend to make more sense to learners but it's important they practice both methods for long division. We also continue to review partial product multiplication and mastery of multiplication facts.
You can help at home by making flash cards for multiplication facts of 6, 7, 8, and 9. Welcome back! We have a busy week. We will review multiplication and delve into division with partial products as well as learning the steps for long division. Learners will play factor games and learn the divisibility rules.
This week we reinforce multiplication practice and take our multiplication assessment. Learners can practice math facts at home either on Reflex Math or with flash cards.
Learners work to solve multiplication comparisons and work to understand multiplication word problems.
