This week learners continue practicing applying perimeter and area to real world situations. They are reminded of parallel and perpendicular lines as they create quadrilaterals and other polygons. Learners begin and complete the first draft of a blue print as a part of their second trimester interdisciplinary project. In this project, they are applying for a land grant during the Rancho time period in California.

We continue Geometry this week with perimeter and area in real world situations. Learners will create a name banner with block letters and calculate the perimeter and area of each letter. We will also define different types of lines and angles.
Essential vocabulary: line, line segment, ray, acute angle, right angle, obtuse angle, straight angle Learners start Unit 5- Geometry this week. We will start by exploring perimeter and area. Hands-on activities will emphasize real-world uses of perimeter and area, while practice worksheets and note taking will emphasize the convenience of formulas.
