math 4 Updates
Fourth graders continue learning about conversion of measurements. We are completing real-world tasks that involve the US metric system. Also, we will begin review of tough topics for the learners. For example, across the board our learners need more fraction practice- we will be comparing fractions and making equal fractions.

Fourth grade is learning about conversion of measurements. Some of our new and reviewed vocabulary includes customary units, metric system, inch, feet, yard, ounce, ton, second, minute, hour, day, week, month, year, millimeter, centimeter, meter, gram, kilogram, milliliter, and liter. They will be using all 4 basic operations when exploring these measurement concepts. (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). There are many real-life applications for this skill. You can help at home by noting when measurement happens naturally in your home. For example, baking.
Fourth graders continue working on their expo project and will complete their final Benchmark assessment shortly. Wow! The school year is almost over! We will begin exploring how to convert measurements. For example, converting inches to feet. You can practice at home by measuring everyday objects and ensuring your learner uses the unit when explaining what they measure (academic language).
The learners begin their project for Expo Night this week. This project is based on their gold rush story they wrote in Humanities. Learners will create a timeline using equal fractions to divide the timeline. Along the timeline they will mark important events in their journey. We look forward to you seeing the final product at Expo Night.
