5th Grade humanities
This week, learners will engage with the Preamble of the Constitution, unpacking it's meaning through discussion, drawing, and writing. They will be challenged to think critically as they consider whether our government upholds the same values today. Also, learners will think about what Writers' Workshop should look like, feel like, and sound like as they collaborate to create our Writers' Workshop agreements.

Welcome back! We are so excited to work with your learner this year. Please use this page to stay updated on the topics, activities, and projects we are focusing on each week in 5th grade humanities.
This week, learners will organize their humanities notebook, and consider the different types of writing they do or see every day. We know that writing can be a daunting task for some learners, and hope for them to understand that they are already writers! Learners will create heart maps that highlight things that are important to them and can be used as inspiration for their writing throughout the year. We will introduce/review Writer's Workshop structure (mini lesson, independent work/conferencing, sharing) and learners will engage in this process through a short narrative writing piece on one of the topics from their heart map. |
